Abstract

Cabletron Systems, Inc. commissioned The Tolly Group to evaluate its SmartSwitch 2200 and SmartSwitch Router 2000. In a series of tests that evaluated both devices’ capability to calibrate bandwidth delivered to two or more traffic streams vying for the same port in an oversubscription scenario, results demonstrate that the products perform as promised. When configured for strict and weighted fair-queuing services, the SmartSwitch 2200 and the SmartSwitch Router 2000 deliver the exact percentage of bandwidth apportioned to priority-enabled traffic. When testing the SmartSwitch 2200 and the SmartSwitch Router 2000 with prioritization services enabled, the devices delivered similar performance and also proved that there was no performance degradation.
